Hips Don’t Lie at the MTV’s Africa Music Awards

It’s 2.25 am on Sunday early, early, too early morning…. Am still awake… though I just spent a loooong Saturday doing lots of activities.

I switched to MTV Asia around 2 am, and they’re playing the MTV’s Africa Music Awards through the “MTV Asia’s World Stage” show.

Anyway, the thing that made me wanna write down something in the middle of this hour is that, I was delightfully surprised that Wyclef appeared and sang that good ol’ song which was a HUGE hit during my life in Mumbai, India, back in 2006, Hips Don’t Lie (has been famously sang by Shakira).

It’s 2.15 am, for God’s sake, and my whole body is so tired and aching, but somehow, this piece of song, when played, even just the INTRO part, had made me jump off my bed, turned up the volume a little bit louder, and DANCED like I’ve never danced my whole life!!! Shook all parts of my body, moving frantically, ha ha ha… It’s like a reflex move, the music triggered the long asleep tigress within me.. I danced, and danced, and how I really wish, I was there at the Africa Music Awards…

Cervical Cancer

Today, my eyes were caught on this article’s title:

Jade Goody, British reality TV star, dies at 27

And then I thought: ‘Man, this girl is as about my age, and how come she lost her life so damn early?’

The answer was not new to my ears, which is the Cervical Cancer. But nevertheless, as ignorant as a woman can be, I’d never wanted to search further info about this cancer.

So today I browsed and browsed what is it about this cancer that I should be aware of, and found the initial background in Wikipedia.

After some more browsing, I realized that actually people can prevent cancer from a very early stage, should that person has a family history of cancer, by an early cancer detection. Some hospitals in Jakarta that I know of for cervarix cancer detection are Dharmais, Pondok Indah, and Brawijaya hospitals. I don’t know if other hospitals provide the same, though..

Share this with the ladies you know of, because who knows, you might save someone’s life…

Rules of pool table game

Today I was in a pool lounge in Jakarta with 4 guys. Not only was I the only girl there who came with them, but also the only one who didn’t know how to play and enjoy the game, ha ha ha… Feeling like a fool and a little bored, after some 15 minutes or so, I decided to go out of that place to see what’s around the pool lounge for some time while the guys were playing.

Why ever I went to the pool lounge in the first place if I didn’t know how to play, in case you ask? It was because somehow those guys reminded me of my time spent with my friends in Mumbai whom visited a mall to play Xbox together every Sunday. What a fun to see them beat one another in a game and speak some ‘unappropriate’ words, ha ha…

So, now that I have google on my side, I’m checking out the rules of the game. My intention is, should I happen to land in a pool lounge and everyone else is playing, at least I’ll know how to enjoy the game:-)

Okay,

An article from the International Herald Tribune caught my eyes this afternoon.

In this article, Mr. Friedman has a good point on saying:

Great and difficult crises are what produce great presidents

I mean, it ain’t funny if it’s easy, right?

So this also inspires me… Some weeks ago I was unsure if my life plans are gonna work out fine or not. But today, this comes to my mind: Yes, this is a hard time to live in, but for sure, I will make it work. I’ve always survived in any difficult situation before, this crises will do nothing but to strengthen my surviving skills in turbulent time. I will survive!!
